This course has improved my writing skills in many ways as to how to divide each paragraph of an essay, which could be a very simple thing for many people. However, I was never the highest level writer during high school or even now in college. For example, writing an essay in APA or MLA was a format that I did not understand or knew before taking the Composition for Creative Expression course. Most of the time I struggled with the simple things that most people find easy. Although I faced difficulties during this course, something that really helped me was going back to previous assignments and reviewing Professor Rodwell’s comments. This process helped me a lot because reviewing mistakes from past activities would help me avoid making the same mistakes. Therefore, at the starting point in this course, my writing strength was poorly meeting the course learning outcomes. However, I had to keep looking at the SYLLABUS to make sure if my writing was meeting the CLOs.

In the formal letter of introduction, my professor advised me of the repetition I was making in this paper. When I became aware of this error while writing my paper, it prompted me to take precautions and to always review my assignment to identify any repetitions. In addition, I also had to use a strategy to reduce my repetition that was to read out my own words. A course learning outcome I attained was to develop strategies for drafting and revising details.

The product review helped me develop my searching on the internet to investigate or examine my ideas more deeply in my writing. Also to understand if the information that I’m using is correct or being used in the proper way. Course learning outcomes I accomplished was to explore and analyze in writing. To be able to explain your ideas deer shows more capacity in your writing and not as basic.

My growth for the product review self-reflection essay when writing a self reflection paper is important to write the strategies that I used and writing decisions I made that affect the quality of my paper. To compose texts critically and interact with my writing strategies were the achievement of the course learning outcomes.

At the beginning of the leadership presentation assignment, my presentation skills were basic because previously I had a hard time conveying information to the audience. However, when I got that presentation done I understood and used digital technologies to address my audience.

I received some feedback from my professor on the leadership Presentation self reflection to write an organized paper. At the time I couldn’t write an organized paragraph. The course learning outcomes I achieved was to compose texts that integrate your stance. When the paper is well organized, the reader receives the information in the easiest way.

In the process of writing the annotated bibliography I obtained the knowledge on how to find credible sources on the internet. I specifically located the sources from the City College database because the searching was easier instead of doing research from somewhere else. The City College database is more detailed on what I specifically wanted to search for. The learning outcomes that I improved were locating articles from academic journals. This is important because the writer needs a credible source to prove their point. 

In the Research Critical Analysis paper the professor recommended that I must delete paragraphs that do not have connection to the thesis statement. This helped my writing to be more precise in the way I want certain information for the reader that should be connected to my thesis statement. I was able to develop strategies for drafting, revising, and editing. Revisions and editing help take away sentences that might not be related to the writing.

In writing the Research Critical Analysis Self Reflection I was able to interact more with my writing skills and included the course learning outcome that I interacted with. To be more specific At the beginning of the course I always had issues in how to connect my writing and the CLOs. I engage in writing situations and end up identifying the rhetorical situations in my paper.

For the Multimodal presentation my collaboration was poor and not effective in group work. After being in meetings with the members of my group, I was able to develop my role and participation to work together on this project. Each member of this group was assigned a job to explain the information they learned. Which was something we all did in group work to balance what we know and what information we needed to present.

The comment of Shiym chastanet on the discussion forum for the self-reflection best practice who said “I always feel like by making your content readable for all audiences is a great approach. In my opinion when writing a paper it is best to add both points of views in your writing.” Helped me to be more diverse in terms of providing the two perspectives in my paper. Receiving these types of comments helps my writing skills by sharing ideas with my colleagues. To engage in collaborative and social aspects of writing processes. Engaging with others helps me perceive my peers’ writing strengths.

The Informative Speech gave me an understanding of how to find research sources and this project guided me how to locate sources for my RCA paper. To locate research sources that are credible helped me build my argument and increase the credibility of my paper. In addition, it is one of the reasons why the reader should read my paper.

The Persuasive Speech helped me write or inform ideas to my readers in a more critical way and understandable. Being able to transmit your knowledge to the reader plays a very important role in your writing, and it’s important to know how to do so. To write text in an intricate critical way is essential because it shows the communication skills and ideas being transmitted.

In conclusion, this class requires a lot of discipline. It has taught me a lot and has helped me develop my writing skills. Comparing how I started and how I finished this course, I can see my progress as a student has become better.
